This project is for individuals who have either tested positive or have been predicted to test positive for R-L226. To see if you are predicted positive for R-L226 (or 50 other R-L21 YSNPs), enter your 67 markers in the R-L21 YSNP Predictor:
http://www.rcasey.net/DNA/R-L21_SNP_Predictor_Intro.html
Once you have tested positive for R-L226, please sure to join the The R-L226 Project - Irish Type III at Family Tree DNA as well, so that you submission can be analyzed by R-L226 researchers:
https://www.familytreedna.com/group-join-request.aspx?group=R-L226&vGroup=R-L226_Project
There are currently, three known R-L226 descendants to date:
FGC5628 (around 65 % of L226)
DC1 (around 10 % of FGC5628)
YFS231286 (66 % of DC1)
YSEQ has an exciting new haplogroup test includes 18 known L226 related YSNPs. This test is a two part test that saves both YSEQ and YSEQ customers unnecessary testing of YSNPs that would always test negative:
Step 1 - test core known R-L226 YSNPs:
L226, FGC5628 and DC1 (3)
Step 2a - If L226 positive and FGC5628 negative, test
FGC12289, FGC12290, FGC12292, FGC12294, FGC12295 and FGC12296 (6)
Step 2b - If FGC5628 positive and DC1 negative, test
FGC5639, DC15, DC16, DC19 and DC21 (5)
Step 2c - If DC1 positive, test
YFS231286, DC11, DC12, DC13 (4)
So this test includes all four known L226 YSNPs plus fourteen currently private YSNPs under R-L226 that could reveal additional new branches under R-L226. This test is only $88 for 18 YSNPs and results in testing costs of only $4.89 per YSNP.
