His children also married there. One son born in 1775 cited Guildford County NC as his birthplace. The ancestry of one Y tester suggests that John's ancestors came from Northern Ireland and may be connected to the Calhoun's located in Abbeville and York counties of South Carolina. Current descendants live primarily in Tennessee, North Carolina, Georgia, Mississippi, but are scattered throughout Nova Scotia, the United States, Scotland and Northern Ireland.
