L1336 was discovered in a WTY in Nov 2012 that examined Moore 120616, one of several kits with the 21-5909A signature. (Another SNP, L1337, was discovered at the same time but was initially not recommended for phylogeny as it was in a possibly troublesome area of the Y chromosome that was too similar to the X Chromosome.) L1336 was soon found to have good congruence with 21-5909A. To the best of my knowledge, there hasn't been anyone with the 21-5909A signature who hasn't tested positive for L1336.

At the time I'm writing this in May 2018, there are 3 known branches of L1336 so far, in no particular order: (1) A933, A935, A932, BY19488, (2) BY15552, BY15550, and (3) FGC11336, FGC11353.

A little side story: In 2012, I pushed for someone in 21-5909A to take WTY, but my intuition told me that someone else should take the exploratory test rather than myself. This worked out well, as my subsequent L1336 test was negative, and then No Call, at FTDNA and has been so ever since (despite repeated calls to FTDNA's help desk, and contradictory Full Genomes L1336+ results). Happily, I tested at YSEQ and L1336+ confirmed quickly as part of the DF21 SNP pack, also confirming my branch within L1336 as FGC11353.
